First off, Amazon Prime is way cool - $60 for this vacuum delivered with two day 'free' shipping with no sales tax. You can't beat that - I didn't have to mess around driving to Target during Christmas season to buy a new vacuum when the old one failed.

Other than that, I shopped other vacuums, including the $300 models. This vacuum costs 5X less than a fancy "tornado" style bagless vacuum, and from the reviews I read, the bagless models have problems of their own.

This is a substantial vacuum with a handy wand to clean the blinds or spider webs up high. It has a wide beater bar just like the "widepath" name says.

The unit is somewhat heavy, but it handles fine. The light is bright. The floor is visibly cleaner after you run across it.

It has a "bare floor" setting that works great on our wood floors - we have more wood than carpet in the house, and this vacuum doesn't scatter dust on smooth surfaces like other vacs I've used.

I was replacing a 20-year old Hoover. I took the Hoover to get it checked out - they would have charged me the same price to repair the Hoover as buying this unit new.
