After seeing how many different ones were on the market, I was very overwhelmed. I can't believe I bought this vacuum based on reviews here on Amazon and feel so disappointed with this vacuum cleaner which only breaks belts.
After using 3 times and it braking 4 belts, I would say it is defective but because the 30 day time limit is up with Amazon, they will do nothing! I called the Hoover HELP line..HA! After waiting 15 minutes listening to how a am a valued customer and please stay on the line, a consumer specialist came on the line. She told me I'd have to take it 60 miles to my local service warehouse to be repaired. She said it sounded like it has a defective rollerbar which is breaking the belt.

Now if this were my local Costco, there would be NO PROBLEM but I have no intentions of driving 60 miles to drop this off, nor make another trip to pick it up, nor am I going to pay postage to send it for repair.
Let this be a lesson to anyone purchasing large items from Amazon that may need repair.

If you're looking for an allergy vacuum, save money and get this one, because no vacuum really functions well for that purpose, no matter how expensive it is or how many HEPA filters it has.

Why? Because all portable vacuums that suck also blow. The greater the suction, the greater the velocity of the air they blow out. And the wind they create stirs up allergens from your floor and furniture into the air, where they float until you finish, then settle back on the floor and furniture.

So, for the money, this is a great little machine. I only have two complaints: first, I keep running over the electrical cord. You're supposed to be able to attach it up the back of the cleaner, but the picture in the instruction book is different from the vacuum, so I couldn't figure it out. I may just use a twist tie to secure it.

Second, the "bag full" indicator stopped working after I changed bags, but this is my third vacuum with an indicator, and none of them work, so I guess it's normal.

But it's a Hoover, it's powerful, and inexpensive. I recommend it.

After reading all the prior reviews, I decided to purchase this vacuum. We have been using it for just about a month, and so far we are happy with it. It is short of perfect, but a reasonable value for the money. Yes the cord is too short, so we use an extension cord. Yes the vacuum is just a bit loud, but it is a fair trade-off for the great suction. It does feel just a bit plasticy/cheap, but it costs a lot less then other lesser vacuums. Yes, the attachment hose is way too short, but my old vacuum didn't have one -- this one does.

The one thing that I did not see anyone else write about, was that this vacuum does a much better job picking up items/dirt/lint from the right side (operators perspective) of the roller. This is due to the fact that the attachment hose plugs into the right rear side of the vacuum. This is not a show stopper for us, but it would have been better if the suction was more evenly distributed. I would've also liked to have seen a larger diameter hose.

The vacuum is light weight, yet it has great suction. The light on the front is okay, but the location of the light casts a significant shadow, negating much of the usefullness of the light.

It was easy to assemble, and I had it running in just a few minutes.

The best feature is the suction that this vacuum has, and that is what I want a vacuum to have.

I'm impressed. I've owned the Hoover Tempo for under a month. Between kid, husband, and dog I need to vacuum (the entire house)at least twice a week. I've had this vacuum for over a year and can officially say it is by far the best vacuum I have ever owned.

It's equipped with strong suction and beater bar that work great on even matted carpet. It's a little bulky for stairs, though you really can't expect it not to be based on its type. Despite its clumsiness it does a great job on stairs (using the hose), by far better than any other that I've used including those made for stairs. The bags are somewhat expensive, in the store three for $6.00=$2.00 each, however, I've found them online for 30 for $29.90=$1.00 each (with free shipping) on Amazon at United Vacuum.

I was reluctant at first because of the low cost, but in reality, for $60 what's the worst that can happen? Even if I only got a year out of it, which I'm already well beyond, I'd have gotten my money's worth. At that price it would take me 8.5 years of a new vacuum every year to reach the cost of a $500 vacuum that wouldn't last 8 years and almost 22 years to reach the cost of that high priced $1,300 one.

You definitely get every dime of what you pay for out of this vacuum. Best $60 I've spent in a long time.

Have had one of these for just about a year now; it was bought out of necessity to replace a 20+ year old Hoover Elite that finally died. I wanted a bagged vac (bagless are gross when it comes time to empty them, methinks; got enough of that with my shop vac) and decided I didn't want to spend a lot. Before I bought it I researched it on the net, and found some considered it the best upright vac under $100 (I think that was also in a magazine test too, but I'm not sure) and that people were even using them commercially. IMHO the comments were right on spot. I've been very satisfied with it: Cleaning power is really good on rugs/carpets and with the attachments, tho the hose and extension tubes could be a bit longer, and it does seem a bit louder than my old Hoover. I find the length of the power cord adequate. Had to replace the belt once but that was my fault after letting it pick up the edge of a furniture throw and not turning it off quickly enough. Haven't had to replace it since. Changing bags is a snap; I like this much better than the old style soft/fabric outer bag. Weight isn't a problem. I've recommended it to a couple of friends and they're very satisfied too. I give it 5 stars for both the price point and functionality combined. I've only used this vaccuum a couple times, but it seems to work great. Easy to push around, light, a long cord(definitely important), and works well on carpet and bare surfaces.
