Here are my opinions of this product
1) great for doing carpets , excellent suction
2) extension hose for wand is very flimsy,thin, collapses under use. This limist it's use for dusting and edge cleaning. Hoover should have beefed up the hose for a few extra dollars.
3) electric cord is very stiff; a flexible cord would prevent cord tangling, catching on doors and furniture.
4) I have gone back to a bagged vacuum because I'm tired of the dust when emptying the container
5) good price, after having several higher end Hoover's that broke after a short time, I decided to get an inexpensive one. That way if it breaks I'm not out a lot of money!

Just bought this and vac'd the house (3000 sq.ft.). If you go to BB or other big box retailer, you don't have much choice. This one is in between the cheaper dirt devils and more expensive Eureka's. This one is kind of self propeled. It will take off on thick orientals. Doesn't take off on bare wood floor. Seems to have very good suction. Don't expect much on the sides of the front that sticks out to go under cabinets. My 5 year Ricar is better but started leaving black spots on the wall to wall. The variable height carpet adjustment is nice. Don't like that the bag door does not fully close until vac is on. It kind of sucks it closed. Pumps out a ton of hot air. Would have liked a HEPA filter at the exhaust like the Eureka. Hoover shows a HEPA Y bag but the manual says to use Alergen Filtration Y bag. Manual is not much good for anything except a parts and accessories list. Good luck dressing the power cord up and thru the back plane on this thing. Bad design there. Much lighter than the Ricar or Eureka. Wifey likes that. Good long cord. If it lasts a year or 2, I will be happy. BB tries to sell you a 4 or 5 year warranty for $20. Overall, it's OK. I liked the design of the Eureka with HEPA filtration better but the wife wanted the light weight Hoover. We bought this for our business (bowling alley & skating rink). We seem to be buying vacuum cleaners every year as employees don't take care with them. Pull to hard on the hoses, suck up things they shouldn't etc. so we wanted a better price point. The suction on this for our commercial carpeting (very little nap) is outstanding. It does better than higher priced models. Also the onboard tools suction just as well as the beater brush/floor.

When reviewing other comments prior to purchasing, several had complaints with how loud it was but I'm not finding that to be an issue. It may be louder, but if it is, not much and not a concern. We don't vacuum when customers are present anyway.

We have purchased high priced commercial vacuum cleaners with the stainless steel motor (in fact it was a Hoover commercial) in years past and found repairs to be extremely expensive and often. All that and the suction was not as strong as this Hoover Tempo.

Complaints? None. Employees love the machine.

It was easy to put together, just put the handle on. Have been using daily now for several weeks. Not plugging up at all. Love the external bag fullness indicator. i did not want to spend a lot on a new vacuum. after reading the many reviews listed here on amazon, i decided to purchase this vacuum. could i get a decent vacuum for only $70? it sounded possible. unfortunately, within weeks of owning it, it stopped functioning properly. after checking everything i could think of, the bag, the belt, checking for clogs (and missing the 30 window for returns at amazon) i called hoover directly. they recommended that i take it to an authorized servicer, and gave me telephone numbers of the ones nearest to where i live. the closest listings they could give me were in the bronx and queens, which are not particularly easy to get to for a mom with very young children and limited car access living in manhattan like myself. none the less, i did call the three numbers given to me. after getting no answer with the first two numbers, i was able to reach someone at the third listing. they were very helpful, but they were in no way convenient. i decided to take the vacuum to my local do-it-all hardware store, where they confirmed the motor had gone. i then called hoover again and explained what was wrong with the vacuum. i explained it would likely cost me as much in time and travel to get to the hoover servicer to fix/replace vacuum as it cost me to buy it, and could they please let me mail it to them directly for exchange/service/refund. they refused. i will be putting the vacuum in the trash when i am finished writing this and will not be buying anything from hoover again. indeed, you get what you pay for.... Nice and light weight. Good sucking power. It has the standard small vaccuum head and hose attachments. It came with a Y bag. The only assembly was two phillips screws to attach the neck...I used my fingers to tighten. The only draw back is a 25 ft extension cord that pulls from the wall sockets(I am used to a longer cord/ guess I'll get one) and the vaccuum is little loud for my preference (so I turn up the Ipod shuffle).
It's worth the money. If you don't like yours, just send it back. No big deal. You have nothing to lose but a wasted two weeks reading reviews if you are as anal as I am when searching and buying products. Good luck with your new vaccuum!

I have to say that I like it a lot! It cleans very well with little hassle. Its Not a light vacuum. But it cleans down deep! Its not loud - no louder than any other vacuum? Nothing noticeable about the way it sounds. There's really nothing special about this vacuum, accept its price and cleaning power. Long cord/floor height adjuster/typical attachments/carry handle/lights/etc...
The only thing I don't care for is: when using the attachments with the hose - the Brush Keeps on spinning, in motion. I would have liked to see something where the brush could be turned off while using the attachments with the hose. But thats it as far as dislikes.

When I turned it on, it almost ran away from me- it has extraordinary power for an inexpensive vaccum- picked up a ton of dirt and dog hair my old vacuum failed to get before it blew up 3 days ago.

The accessories, etc feel pretty cheap, but the power of the motor more than makes up for it.

Works great just as the other reviewers said. And as they said it's a bit heavy. I would have given it 5 out of 5 if it was just a bit lighter. That's why I gave it 4 stars. Suction is good, fluffs up the carpet good, feels like it pulls itself forward when vacuuming. I've done the house 5 times so far and the bag isn't even a 1/4 full. I do take my shoes off at the door, no pets and it's only me but it is a 3 bedroom house. Very satisfied for the price. Very sad to see my 25 year old hoover upright bite the dust, sob, sob.
