I debated between the Eureka Boss and the Hoover. I have the Boss and it's a great vacuum-great suction,well engineered and reasonably priced; but it is heavy and someone in my household broke it. My husband wanted something lightweight for the stairs-the Hoover is the one. It has excellent suction--it feels like it is self-propelled--and it is light enough to use on the stairs without causing any strain. The best part is the price. Be advised: you get what you pay for--it is not as well engineered as other vacuums and is rather flimsy. That is not to say it won't last with proper care.
